Distance Input

Distances are entered in the Lines grid in the 'Parcel Properties' dialogue box and are entered as they appear on the plan.

DISTANCES IN FEET

Distances in feet and inches are entered as they appear on the plan except that a hyphen is typed between the feet and inch values.
The program automatically converts the entered distance to decimal feet.
Example:
A distance of twelve feet eight and a half inches would be entered as 12-81/2.
This distance would then be displayed as 12.709 decimal feet.

Distances in Links, Feet or Metres

If your parcel is in Metres but you have a distance in feet or links,
enter 'F100' for 100 feet, it will be converted to metres and redisplayed.
Enter 'L200' for 200 links, it will be converted to metres and redisplayed.
The F, L or M can be upper case or lower case.

COPYING THE DISTANCE FROM ABOVE

If the distance of the line you are about to enter is the same as the distance of the line directly above, then you can copy this value rather than re-type it.
This can be done by either:
1. Right-clicking on the line where you require the distance to be copied to, and selecting "Copy Bearing,Dist from Line Above".
2. Clicking on the line where you require the distance to be copied to, selecting "Functions" from the top of the Parcel Properties dialogue box and selecting "Copy Bearing, Dist from Line Above".
3. Using the F7 shortcut key.
This option will copy both the bearing and the distance from the line above. If the bearing differs from the line you are entering, simply type over the bearing that was copied with the new bearing.

If the distance of the line you are about to enter is the same as the distance of the line 2 lines above, then you can copy the distance from 2 lines above.
This can be done by either:
1. Right-clicking on the line where you require the distance to be copied to, and selecting "Copy Line 2 Lines Above +180 Degrees".
2. Clicking on the line where you require the distance to be copied to, selcting "Functions" from the top of the Parcel Properties dialogue box and selecting "Copy Line 2 Lines Above + 180 Degrees".
3. Using the F11 shortcut key.
This option will copy both the bearing and the distance from 2 lines above plus add 180 degrees to the bearing. If the bearing differs from the line you are entering, simply type over the bearing that was copied with the new bearing.
